On the existence of conditionally invariant probability measures in dynamical systems

2000

Let T : X→X be a measurable map defined on a Polish space X and let Y be a non-trivial subset of X. We give conditions ensuring the existence of conditionally invariant probability measures to non-absorption in Y. For dynamics which are non-singular with respect to some fixed probability measure we supply sufficient conditions for the existence of absolutely continuous conditionally invariant measures. These conditions are satisfied for a wide class of dynamical systems including systems that are Φ-mixing and Gibbs.

A Note on Algebraic Sums of Subsets of the Real Line

2002

AbstractWe investigate the algebraic sums of sets for a large class of invari-ant ˙-ideals and ˙- elds of subsets of the real line. We give a simpleexample of two Borel subsets of the real line such that its algebraicsum is not a Borel set. Next we show a similar result to Proposition 2from A. Kharazishvili paper [4]. Our results are obtained for ideals withcoanalytical bases. 1 Introduction We shall work in ZFC set theory. By !we denote natural numbers. By 4wedenote the symmetric di erence of sets. The cardinality of a set Xwe denoteby jXj. By R we denote the real line and by Q we denote rational numbers. IfAand Bare subsets of R n and b2R , then A+B= fa+b: a2A^b2Bgand A+ b= A+ fbg. Simila…

Some Open Problems

2009

We have extensively considered here the use of Stone's theorem on the paracompactness of metric spaces in order to build up new techniques to construct an equivalent locally uniformly rotund norm on a given normed space X. The discreetness of the basis for the metric topologies gives us the necessary rigidity condition that appears in all the known cases of existence of such a renorming property [Hay99, MOTV06]. Our approximation process is based on co-σ-continuous maps using that they have separable fibers, see Sect. 2.2. We present now some problems that remain open in this area. Some of them are classical and have been asked by different authors in conferences, papers and books. Others h…

Hamilton–Jacobi semi-groups in infinite dimensional spaces

2006

AbstractLet (X,ρ) be a Polish space endowed with a probability measure μ. Assume that we can do Malliavin Calculus on (X,μ). Let d:X×X→[0,+∞] be a pseudo-distance. Consider QtF(x)=infy∈X{F(y)+d2(x,y)/2t}. We shall prove that QtF satisfies the Hamilton–Jacobi inequality under suitable conditions. This result will be applied to establish transportation cost inequalities on path groups and loop groups in the spirit of Bobkov, Gentil and Ledoux.
